GA Solicitors helps fund mesothelioma research
GA Solicitors are proud to support, for another year, British Lung Foundation’s mesothelioma research.
The charity has invested more than £8 million into mesothelioma research. One such project was led by Professor Karen Brown at the University of Leicester which looked at repurposing existing drugs to prevent mesothelioma. Professor Brown is researching if a safe and effective therapy was available that could prevent or delay mesothelioma development in exposed high-risk people. If there is, this could avoid people having to live with and suffer from mesothelioma and significantly reduce the number of deaths from it.
GA Solicitors is proud to be part of the team of people making progress happen. Our specialised industrial disease team sees on a daily basis the distress and anxiety of sufferers of lung diseases, and we want to do as much as we can to help those affected.
The GA industrial disease team based in Plymouth specialises in asbestos exposure; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD); occupational asthma; and noxious substance exposure. Many of these diseases take years after exposure to develop symptoms which could include debilitating breathlessness and can be life-threatening in the cases of mesothelioma and lung cancer.
James Walsh, partner and head of the industrial disease team specialises in advising those exposed to asbestos. He commented, “The role of the BLF in their support and guidance is crucial to the health and wellbeing of our clients. BLF offers unsurpassed help to sufferers and their families who need someone to turn to in difficult and worrying circumstances. This is why we are proud to be one of their patrons.”
Kevin Digby, associate solicitor, has acted for many sufferers of occupational asthma; COPD; and other noxious substance exposure. Many of Kevin’s clients over the years have suffered from terrible lung diseases that the BLF has assisted them with “They provide a service which is invaluable to our clients. We are positive their research will eventually lead to a cure”.
