Understanding our community
Having been established for more than two hundred years, we understand the importance of supporting our local community.
We actively encourage our staff to work with charities, organisations and schools to use their knowledge and expertise to help others.
Supporting local charities
Our team currently supports 18 different organisations across the country and local region.
This includes our current charity of the year, Children’s Hospice South West.
Our charity of the year
Jeremiah's Journey
Jeremiah’s Journey has been voted as our charity of the year for 2025.
Their aim is to reduce prolonged and traumatic distress after bereavement. Jeremiah’s Journey believes that no child, young person, or family member should be alone in their grief. They will listen and ensure they can face the future with new skills and ideas. This enables them to enjoy their lives more fully, with grief being one part of their life, but not what defines them.
One child in every classroom will experience the death of a parent or sibling in every school, at any given time.
Bereavement in childhood is recognised as an Adverse Childhood Experience with a potential lifelong impact.
You can read more about them here.
Jeremiah’s Journey will be our nominated charity until the end of the year.
