Huge Hug for Henry Hallam
The plight of four year old Henry Hallam has had such an impact on the staff of a Plymouth based law firm that they have raised in excess of £1800 to try and help.
The staff at GA Solicitors voted Hugs for Henry to be their charity of the year and ran marathons, organised bake sales, held Easter egg raffles and also monthly dress down days to raise money for Henry. In total £1,865.86 has been raised.
Stephen Ramsden, managing partner of GA Solicitors, commented: “Each year our staff choose a local charity and Henry’s story touched us all. All staff have worked hard and dug deep to raise as much as possible. We are delighted to be able to present this substantial cheque to Elsbeth and Henry and do our bit to help towards his treatment.”
Hugs for Henry was established by Henry’s parents, Elsbeth and Mike Hallam, after Henry was diagnosed with stage four Neuroblastoma in September 2012. They are hoping to raise in excess of £500,000 to provide him with the best available treatment – no matter where in the world that may be.
A recent MRI scan showed that Henry’s cancer has not spread further but could progress at any time. So far more than £230,000 has been raised, a figure which is growing on an almost daily basis.
Elsbeth Hallam, Henry’s mother, commented: “We were so pleased to see Hugs for Henry voted as GA’s charity of the year and they have done a fantastic job of fundraising. Sometimes the amount we need to raise seems unachievable, but with support like this from our local community we realise that anything is possible and that all of these efforts combine to make a real difference. Both I and Mike want to say a big thank you to all those involved.”
GA Solicitors currently employs 65 members of staff from its city centre office and includes seven specialist departments: commercial; residential conveyancing; employment; dispute resolution; personal injury; family and wills, trusts and probate.
