Law firm goes pink and purple for baby loss charity
Staff members from Plymouth law firm, GA Solicitors, have today (25th August) dressed up in pink and purple in honour of their new chosen charity – Little Things & Co.
The charity was voted in by GA staff due to its essential work supporting parents and families who have suffered the loss of a baby. Over the next 12 months the GA team will hold a number of fundraising events and activities such as bake sales, raffles and quiz nights to generate as much money as possible for the small, local charity.
Little Things & Co. offers practical and emotional support to those who have suffered the loss of a baby. This includes bespoke tiny clothing for babies who have died, the creation and management of a dedicated memorial garden in Derriford Hospital, monthly support group meetings, and items for use at baby funerals such as doves, grave dressings and cradles.
GA Solicitors has a strong track record of supporting local charities having just fundraised £2,500 for Gables Farm Dog & Cats Home, donating £1600 to Tavistock Memory Café in 2016, and £2500 to POOCH in 2015.
Katy McKenna of GA Solicitors commented: “Little Things & Co. is a much needed local charity which provides essential support to parents and family members locally and further afield. To be able to support them with this and provide comfort to so many families is truly wonderful and we look forward to fundraising as much as possible over the next 12 months.”
LeighAnne Wright, founder of Little Things & Co, added: “We are so pleased to have been chosen as GA Solicitors’ charity of the year. Although established in 2013 we only became a registered charity in 2016 and there is a growing demand for our services. What is so fantastic about being selected by GA is knowing that not only will we raise additional funds but we will also raise awareness and get people talking about baby loss.
“More than 3,600 stillbirths occur every year in the UK, and around 20% of women suffer from miscarriage at some point in their lives. These are not small numbers and yet baby loss is still somewhat of a taboo subject. I can’t thank the GA team enough and look forward to working with them over the next 12 months.”
With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is a leading Plymouth law firm with 77 members of staff offering guidance across seven specialist departments: business; family; employment; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.
