Ieuan Jones
Partner and head of team
I joined GA as partner and head of the dispute resolution team at the start of 2021. I qualified in 2012, having cut my teeth with large regional and national firms prior to joining GA.
My main area of expertise is within commercial disputes. This includes disputes between shareholders and directors, partnerships, as well as disputes concerning franchise agreements and enforcement of restrictive covenants. As a team we also deal with professional negligence claims.
My experience ranges from the County Court right up to Court of Appeal level, where I successfully defended a claim concerning the relationship between an insurance broker and the insured. I also have experience in dealing with disputes in different jurisdictions outside of England and Wales, including proceedings in Africa, the EEA and the Far East.
Like many practitioners within dispute resolution, my focus nowadays is on achieving the best results for clients outside of court proceedings wherever possible, saving them the time, money and aggravation of being caught up in this process. This includes settling by means of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), such as mediation. For example, in a previous mediation I negotiated a valuable outcome for a lender in their £1 million claim. I am also experienced in several different types of arbitration, having acted for clients in LCIA, LMAA and WIA proceedings.
Being from the region where GA is based and with my family here as well, it is important to me to be working for a local firm and providing client service excellence to businesses in the local area that they would expect from a high profile firm in one of the major cities.

- Advising SPVs in relation to their constitution and negotiating settlement, including where there are disputes over respective director duties, shareholdings, and assets
- Engaged in the conduct of and advising in relation to arbitration proceedings in relation to large-scale energy litigation
- Interpretation and advice in relation to the regulatory framework pertaining to energy projects

- The communication from Mr Jones was fantastic and his knowledge and professionalism were invaluable. He responded quickly to emails and phone calls and he took the time to explain legal terminology and processes in a way that was easy to understand. He made me feel valued and cared for and put my mind at ease during an incredibly stressful time.
