GA and Argyle Team Up For Local Procurement
South West law firm GA Solicitors has continued its long-standing support for Plymouth Argyle Football Club by advising the high-flying EFL League One club on commercial contracts for local procurement.
Working closely with the club, and in line with its commitment to using local suppliers where possible, GA has advised on the contracts for the club’s new cleaning contractor, Carlton Cleaning, after it won a competitive tender and its security provider City Security.
The contract law advice was delivered by GA’s head of company commercial James Peterson who himself has a long history of working both for and with the club. In fact, James actually worked as part of the club’s hospitality team whilst studying to become a lawyer nearly 20 years ago. Since then, he has enjoyed a rapid rise at GA from being a trainee solicitor in 2006 to becoming an equity partner and head of the firm’s company commercial team. He is also recognised as a leader in his field by Chambers UK and a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500.
Commenting on the relationship, James explained: “It has been really rewarding to be advising the club which supported me whilst studying to qualify as a lawyer. Argyle is gaining a national reputation for its governance and transparency and we are proud to play our part in the club’s progress.”
Christian Kent, Head of Venue, Hospitality and Events at Plymouth Argyle Football Club, said: “We are thankful to James and his team at GA for the skilled advice they have offered us in setting up new supplier agreements with local companies who support our values and plans. Of course, GA is a local firm too so we are pleased to be working with them and look forward to working together in the future.”
The legal advice continues GA’s partnership with the club which has seen the firm support Argyle with advertising and sponsorship before signing a deal to become Nexus Business Club members at the start of this season.
