Howard’s A-Way
Equity partner and previous Plymouth Law Society president, Robert Howard, is to retire from GA Solicitors today (30th June) after 33 years with the firm.
Robert has played a significant role within the firm for the last three decades, particularly within the 15 strong commercial department where he has specialised in company commercial and commercial property work, supporting many businesses both locally and regionally.
After graduating from Birmingham University in 1978, Robert practised law in London before moving to Plymouth. He is chairman of local property consortium Fastmove and is the immediate past president of the prestigious Plymouth Law Society.
Robert’s calibre of work is such that he has been ranked in Chambers and Partners UK as a leader in his field for the last two consecutive years. Robert is one part of the commercial team which is made up of 14 other specialist solicitors and support staff. He will continue to remain in close contact with the experienced team following his departure to ensure a smooth transition of work.
Stephen Ramsden, managing partner of GA Solicitors commented: “After 33 years with GA, Robert is certainly going to be missed. His experience and knowledge have ensured he is well thought of in the business community. We are lucky to have had him in our midst for so long, allowing him to pass that knowledge on to our other commercial team members and to ensure we had a well planned handover in the build up to his departure. We wish him the best of luck in his retirement and look forward to keeping in touch.”
Commenting on his retirement, Robert Howard said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at GA and will be sorry to leave the firm and the people within it. I can however be confident that I am leaving my clients in safe hands as the team is professional, experienced and provides the level of client service expected of a modern law firm.
“I have worked closely with the team to ensure a smooth handover and now hope to spend some time travelling and enjoying exotic places I have as yet been unable to visit.”
With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is a leading Plymouth law firm with 70 members of staff offering guidance across seven specialist departments: business; family; employment; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.
