Disabled Children Benefit from GA Solicitors IT Upgrade
Donated computers, an early Christmas present for disabled children at the Beckly Centre
GA solicitors has upgraded its IT systems and has generously donated computers they no longer need to a local charity.
The Beckly Centre supports children and young people with a diverse range of disabilities, from autism and learning disabilities to physical and multiple complex disabilities. Disabled children and young people participate in and enjoy positive inclusive and fun social activities in a friendly, caring and supportive environment based at the accessible premises in the beautiful Radford Park, Plymstock, Plymouth.
Disabled children often have so little control over things that other children may take for granted – their speech, movement, and gestures – that they assume they’re going to have to play a passive role all the time. By exposing them to computers and teaching them how to manipulate images, sounds, and productions on computer, we can teach kids that with a little help from technology, they can gain some control.
“It is always a challenge to keep our resources up to date and to provide enough computers for the children; so this donation is very much welcome.” Sarah Noble Centre Manager.
In the words of Gina Clarke who leads a number of sessions at Beckly “these computers will be of great use and provide lots of entertainment and even a little education…maybe!!! I know several of the children will be delighted that these computers will have sound!”
Steve Turner, IT manager at GA Solicitors, commented: “We are delighted to have been able to donate the computers to such a worthy cause and to see them being put to good use by the Beckly Centre. Our investment into our IT facilities is part of our commitment to providing the best possible level of service to our clients and our donation to Routeways demonstrates our commitment to supporting the local community; something the firm has always looked to do.”
