GA invests in its future
Established Plymouth law firm, GA Solicitors, is undergoing a significant investment programme which will see its city centre office completely revamped and its IT facilities updated to provide the latest in virtual office technology.
The refurbishment project will take approximately nine months and see the firm implement the latest designs in modern working practices. The new layout will maximise the available space allowing for ongoing planned expansion as well as the provision of a new suite of client meeting rooms, further improving the level of client service provided.
The refurbishment of the leased premises is being funded in partnership with the landlord, utilises savings made by the firm over several years, and takes advantage of government incentives designed to encourage projects that stimulate the economy. It has been carefully planned to ensure there will be as little client disruption as possible, with the ground floor reception area being the last section to be updated.
Whilst investing in its physical environment, the firm will also be investing in its technological facilities. It is rolling out a VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) programme which means desktop computers are centrally hosted allowing for more efficient working and secure access by staff members from anywhere, at any time and on any device. As part of the process, the firm’s servers have been virtualised, reducing the number of servers down to two.
Stephen Ramsden, managing partner of GA Solicitors commented: “The refurbishment project and IT upgrades form a very significant investment by us. It clearly demonstrates our commitment to the city and the many businesses and individuals we serve.
“The new open plan layout will make the building more fit for purpose and we can increase our seating capacity by up to 100% if required.
“Outstanding client service remains at the forefront of GA’s strategy and this investment will ensure that we can provide the best possible service, from first contact through to matter closing.”
Keen to work with and support local companies wherever possible, GA Solicitors selected Plymouth’s commercial interior specialist, Karris Ltd, to undertake the refurbishment, and is also utilising the expertise of Millfields based Bailey Partnership to manage the project.
Perri De Wan, managing director of Karris Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to be working alongside GA Solicitors on this project and are keen to now see our plans come to fruition. This was a particularly interesting project for us as we utilised innovative methods to maximise space, ensure adequate sound proofing and staff break out areas and, most importantly, to ensure any works undertaken have as little impact as possible on clients and staff. The months ahead will undoubtedly be very exciting as the project unfolds and the new office takes shape.”
With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is an established Plymouth law firm and offers guidance across seven specialist departments: business; family; employment; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.
