GA Solicitors raise funds for a special cause
An intrepid group of volunteers from South West law firm GA Solicitors are in training to complete the daunting Three Peaks Challenge next month in aid of a charity close to all of their hearts.
Loosely described as a ‘small troop whose average age is over 50′, Steve Turner, James Peterson, Sean Walker and James Walsh are tackling the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – in 24 hours to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice who provided compassionate care to their popular former colleague Phil Oke who sadly passed away last year.
Their epic trek will see them walk 23 miles, climb 10.025ft and travel 462 miles between the three peaks on 16 June 2022. They have already secured support from GA Managing Partner David Wallis who will be driving them across the UK in a new campervan which has been generously donated for the journey by Plympton-based Tamar Campervan Hire.
Tim Paige, managing director at Tamar Campervan Centre, explained: “When we saw on social media what the team was planning and their motivation for doing it, we got in touch to see if we could help. GA has been really supportive of us over the years so we are delighted to be doing something in return which will benefit St Luke’s.”
The team also has received generous support from other companies including the ITEC Group, The Cornwall Bakery, Fuel Communications, A F Protection Ltd and KE Costs Lawyers.
David Wallis said: “We’re very proud of our team who are determined to raise as much as they possibly can in Phil’s memory. He’d be both entertained and heartened to see us engaging with businesses and the wider community in Plymouth for such a special charity.”
If you would like to help the team towards their target of £2,000.00 please contact Steve Turner at steve.turner@GAsolicitors.com or donate on their fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/team-ga
