GA Solicitors supports city’s young entrepreneurs at Young Enterprise Awards
This year’s Young Enterprise Plymouth Awards took place on the 4th of April at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, providing all in attendance with a chance to see some innovative and thought-provoking projects, all brought to life by young entrepreneurs from around the city.
The winning team was Protect, from Plymouth High School for Girls, who designed jewellery from recycled glass. Runner ups were Nemeton, of Devonport High School for Girls, with their environmentally friendly bamboo straws and Renewit, of Plymouth College of Art, with their beeswax candles.
All three teams will now go on to take part in the Devon finals in Exeter on the 24th April, before moving on to the regional and national heats.
GA Solicitors sponsored the entire night, along with the CSR award, which also went to Nemeton of Devonport High School for Girls.
The event brought together around 100 people from the city’s business community, along with the participant teams.
GA Solicitors became more involved with Young Enterprise when associate, Rob Zacal, joined the board in 2015. He then took over as chair in July 2016, helping to organise trade fairs and take a lead in its popular company programme. In June 2017, Rob was awarded the gold award from the charity for his level of commitment to the West Devon board.
Talking about Young Enterprise, Rob said: “It is very rewarding to help and encourage young people to think entrepreneurially and to follow them on this journey. Each year the teams have continued to impress me with both their ideas and their dedication to the project. Some teams have even gone on to see their products manufactured and stocked with retailers around the UK.
“This year has been no different and all teams worked incredibly hard. I have no doubt that many of those involved will go on to have very prosperous futures.”
GA Solicitors is a keen supporter of Young Enterprise and has hosted various board meetings, as well as sponsored its annual awards night for the last two years.
The firm strives to support the local community wherever possible and hopes to continue its relationship with Young Enterprise for many years to come.
