McClure Solicitors Enters Administration – What Are The Next Steps For Its Clients?
If you are a current or previous client of McClure Solicitors, you may be aware that the firm has now ceased trading having entered into administration on 29th April 2021.
McClure Solicitors, which had been operating since 1853, had 15 offices in total, a number of which were located in the South West. South West regional offices include those in Plymouth, Exeter and Truro. The firm specialised in providing advice to individuals on wills, powers of attorneys, and trusts.
In particular, McClure Solicitors was well known for assisting individuals to create family protection trusts, often transferring assets such as the family home to a trust in order to protect the assets for future generations.
In many cases, clients will have appointed a director, or a number of directors, of McClure Solicitors as trustees. These trustees would then have become named co-owners of the family home.
Now that McClure has closed for good, you may be wondering what your options are and the next steps you need to take. All documentation held by McClure has been transferred to another law firm, Jones Whyte. Jones Whyte is based in Scotland, which may seem particularly far away from those clients located in Plymouth, Truro or Exeter.
We understand that this could be a very stressful and worrying time. We are therefore actively assisting former McClure clients to review their options and are able to act on your behalf to make contact with Jones Whyte and advise you on your options around updating or ending your trust.
Our experienced and knowledgeable team is well placed to consider your succession planning needs, as well as advise you on all matters relating to the protection of your assets, the payment of inheritance tax, and the most appropriate steps for you to take to achieve the best outcome for you and your family. We will guide you through the process and explain every step.
Members of our team are accredited by the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly, as well as being experienced solicitors or Chartered Legal Executives. We are also highly ranked in celebrated legal directories, The Legal 500, and Chambers High Net Worth.
