Record Breaking Cheque Handover to Children’s Hospice South West

South West law firm, GA Solicitors, has today (16th January) handed over a cheque for £5,520 to regional children’s charity, Children’s Hospice South West.
The handover follows 12 months of fundraising by staff at the Plymouth headquartered law firm, who smashed their original target of £2000.
The 93 staff at GA Solicitors have taken part in raffles, bake sales, half marathons, quiz nights and much more, coming together to raise money for this important and deserving charity.
Children’s Hospice South West has been established for more than 30 years and provides hospice care for babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their whole family. The charity operates three hospices in the region which are located in Devon, Somerset and Cornwall. Each provides hospice stays, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care.
Commenting on the firm’s fundraising success, GA Solicitors’ managing partner David Wallis, said: “Each year our staff vote on which charity we should support and this year they have gone above and beyond to show their support for CHSW and the important work it undertakes. It has been wonderful to see the team band together to run races, bake treats and enjoy some friendly competition in the name of charitable support. This is the most we have ever raised for one singular charity which is a testament to the efforts of those involved.
“We have just finished voting for our charity for 2025 and are delighted to announce that Jeremiah’s Journey has been selected as GA’s charity of the year. This is another fantastic local charity and we look forward to raising funds for them over the next 12 months.
Anabel Roberts, area fundraiser at Children’s Hospice South West added: “We are delighted to have been supported by GA Solicitors in Plymouth for the last 12 months and the efforts of the team have been amazing. It costs almost £12 million every year to keep our three hospices open, so having this level of support is absolutely essential.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all at GA and we truly hope to work with them again in the future.”
GA Solicitors has been established for more than 200 years. Its head office is located in Plymouth, with a small second office located in Bath. 93 members of staff are employed across the two sites.
In January 2024, £4,300 was presented to Promoting Children in Plymouth (PCiP) by GA Solicitors as its chosen charity of the year for 2023.
