Six new recruits for Southwest law firm
Regional law firm, GA Solicitors, has taken on six new team members as it continues to develop its experience in niche sectors, expand existing teams and support the training of a new generation of solicitors.
With 20 years of legal experience, Amanda Lyons has joined GA as a partner, working within the firm’s busy and established family law department.
GA’s specialist GA Energy team has also expanded, with James Bird having joined this April. James has been qualified for more than five years, has a strong background in commercial property and will be based in both the Plymouth and Bath offices. He joins the firm from Eversheds Sutherland and brings a wealth of experience and potential to the growing energy team.
Specialising in residential landlord and tenant work, Neale Crump has joined GA’s dispute resolution team bringing with him 25 years of legal experience.
Sam Mills has been given a position in the personal injury team, focussing on medical negligence and related personal injury claims.
Vicky Broom, who was recently named as one of Devon & Plymouth Chamber’s 30 under 30, has also qualified into the firm’s commercial property team and has been given a full-time position.
Law graduate, Lucy Horswell, has joined the dispute resolution team as a legal assistant, supporting the team while building up her legal experience as she looks to undertake her Legal Practice Course.
Speaking of the recruitment, managing partner David Wallis, commented: “We are continually looking to invest in our team and increase and improve our offering to our clients. I am delighted to welcome Amanda as a new partner, and all five of the other team members, to the fold. Each one of them brings something new to the table and we are very excited to have them with us.
“Like many businesses, we are finding recruitment a challenge. However, with significant staff benefits, a focus on employee communications and providing a mix of office and home working, we are finding that retention rates have greatly improved and potential recruits are becoming more excited at the prospect of joining us.”
The firm is actively recruiting for a total of six other roles, as well as having plans to recruit at least two trainee solicitors later this year. These include a commercial property solicitor, company commercial lawyer, residential conveyancer, family lawyer, a property litigation lawyer and contentious trusts and probate lawyer.
