GA Solicitors Achieves Ranking Success in Chambers UK 2026
Plymouth headquartered law firm, GA Solicitors, has today (16th October 2025) been recognised in the Chambers UK 2026 guide, with significant rankings for its various teams and individuals.
The Chambers 2026 guide is a result of extensive research that took more than six months. During this time, Chambers conducted in-depth interviews with thousands of clients and industry professionals, including accountants, independent financial advisers, and fellow legal experts. The rigorous process is designed to assess firms based on client service, technical legal ability, and professional conduct.
Once again, GA Solicitors is the only Plymouth-based law firm to have team members ranked as ‘Band One’ for corporate/mergers and acquisitions (SME/owner-managed businesses) in the Chambers UK 2026 guide. This top-tier recognition is attributed to partner and head of team James Peterson, with strong support from fellow partner Tony Cusack, who also earned a notable ranking.
The report identified each of the following as ‘Leaders in their Fields’:
- James Peterson – Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions
- Tony Cusack – Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions
- Michelle Grove – Family/Matrimonial
- Andrew Wonnacott – Family/Matrimonial
- Gloria Dyer – Family/Matrimonial
- Matthew Sheather – Personal Injury: Mainly Claimant
The following departments also secured impressive rankings in the 2026 edition.
- Corporate Commercial – Band 1
- Family – Band 3
- Personal Injury – Band 3
GA Solicitors’ inclusion in Chambers UK follows strong results in October’s The Legal 500 guide and the recent release and success of the Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2025. This secures consecutive recognition from three of the UK’s most highly regarded legal directories.
Commenting on the rankings, GA Solicitors’ managing partner, David Wallis, said: “In a very competitive legal environment, it is sometimes hard to stand out from other local competitors. These legal directories do exactly this – as a credible and professional third-party, they demonstrate the expertise and service levels we provide, which far outweigh many firms in the local or even regional market. These directories score us against law firms with hundreds and even thousands of staff, with a turnover much higher than a firm of our size. To be ranked amongst them and have our lawyers highlighted as the best in their field is a testament to the hard work they put in and the service levels, which, as a firm, we make a priority at every stage.
“Chambers UK is the third directory to rank us highly in as many months. A huge well done goes out to all teams and individuals involved, as well as all the other GA staff who support them.”
With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is a regional law firm, headquartered in Plymouth, with 98 members of staff. It offers guidance across eight specialist departments: business; family; employment; energy; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.

GA Solicitors can trace its roots back more than 200 years and has been advising the people and businesses in the South West for its duration. Originally based in Devonport, the firm gets its initials from Thomas Husband Gill, who joined the practice in 1875 and later went into partnership with Albert E. Akaster.
Now one of the region’s leading law firms, the 98-strong team at the Lexcel-accredited LLP, has offices in both Plymouth and Bath. It is ranked in The Legal 500, Chambers UK and Chambers High Net Worth and is structured around eight practice areas, each comprising its own specialist department:
