Two members of GA re-accredited as specialist legal advisors to the elderly

South West law firm GA Solicitors is celebrating the fact that two members of the team have now been re-accredited by Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) to offer specialist legal advice and support to the elderly and vulnerable.
Matthew Rose and Catherine Bailey were both congratulated for passing the SFE Older Client Care in Practice Award. In practical terms this means that both lawyers now have the relevant accreditation to work within this specialist field, which can be challenging as well as hugely rewarding. Older people often need this type of legal support but it can be an extremely sensitive sector to work in which requires care, attention and patience as well as communications skills that are on a different level.
SFE was set up in 1996 and set out to be a specialist group of lawyers to support and make a difference to older and vulnerable people. Vulnerable means people who may not be able bodied and/or who may be mentally incapacitated ie they need help to make decisions or they can’t make decision for themselves.
Commenting on the news, GA Solicitors, Managing Partner, David Wallis said: “The fact that Matthew and Catherine have been re-accredited by the SFE is an important milestone for the two of them as well as the firm as a whole. The law is there to support people and very often those that need legal support are often the very people that struggle to access or understand its complexity in the first place. It requires an enhanced set of skills to be a top quality lawyer in this specific area and I’m pleased to say that the SFE has recognised those skills in both Matthew and Catherine.”
This re-accreditation by SFE is the latest example of external recognition for the Wills, Trusts & Probate team at GA. Over the past 12 months, they have been ranked as the leading firm in Plymouth by Chambers High Net Worth guide with researchers citing, “their main strength is their personable way of looking after the best interests of their clients”. Whilst The Legal 500 2022 states: ‘Many legal firms struggle to give good service, but GA never fails in this area.”
